Travel is not only observation of the unfamiliar,
but more so the deliberate placement of one's person in the unfamiliar.
We believe unmediated experiences of 'otherness' are as critical to understanding the infinite variety, yet fundamental sameness, of the cultures of our world as they are to understanding one's self.
For your voyeuristic pleasure, to inspire you to go places you've always (or never) dreamed of visiting and for the sake of recording our own reflections we've produced the following photographic narrative of our journey throughout Europe. Instead of separating the content into arbitrary categories, we've arranged the images and commentary chronologically- as experienced. Such a method no doubt results in an occasionally tricky to navigate jumble of architecture, landscape, history, art, food, people and culture, but we feel it's important to do our best to depict places and the process of travel as they actually are; indeed an occasionally tricky to navigate jumble of architecture, landscape, history, art, food, people and culture. We invite you to wander with us by clicking on The Itinerary, selecting which destination you care to explore and losing yourself in the delightful mess.
We aim to provide text rich in relevant detail rather than merely recount our activities, and because we are occasionally too engaged with our travels to research and draft such prose promptly we often post photographs prior to accompanying them with narration. This workflow allows us to maintain the quality of our writing while also keeping the living record of our travels as up to date as possible. Thus, if you encounter a page containing photographs without explanation please enjoy the images and rest assured every related fact and anecdote you could ever wish to know will be published soon thereafter.
